S’Wheat Rescues & Adoptions, Inc. is a Federally recognized 501c3 Public Charity dedicated to placing Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers and Wheatables who have been abandoned, neglected, are puppymill victims, or whose present owner cannot, or will not, keep them any longer, into loving, caring, and permanent forever homes.

Is a Wheaten the right pet for you? Your dog will depend on you throughout his or her life. With proper care a Wheaten may live 14 years or more. Are you willing to care properly for it and provide a stable home for that long?

Don’t get a dog without considering and planning for the costs of such a responsibility. Normal veterinary care includes spaying or neutering (included in the adoption fee), shots and boosters, yearly veterinary check-ups, licenses, etc. Preventive and consistent care is less expensive in the long run.

Wheatens and Wheatables (mixes) can be hard to identify in a shelter environment. We
have put together this web page with many pictures to help with these identifications. Wheatens are most often mislabeled as (blonde) Old English Sheepdogs, Bearded Collies, Lhasa’s and such longhaired breeds. Unfortunately many shelter workers and rescue people are unfamiliar with the breed and this is why they are mislabeled.

One very important function of S’Wheat Rescues & Adoptions is the rescue of puppies from puppy mills. When puppies are rescued they are often in very poor health and have suffered for sometimes years. At S’Wheat Rescues we believe that rescuing and rehoming these puppymill victims is our most important mission as a Rescue. While we rescue Wheatens from many different scenarios, these dogs are the ones that need our help most and the most rewarding to see. Providing medical attention is just the beginning. The physical damage can be staggering. The psychological damage is much worse.
